Lineage OS (Android TV)

LineageOS is a free and open-source operating system for smartphones, tablets, and other devices, based on the Android mobile platform. It is a popular custom distribution that offers a clean and customizable user interface, along with various performance improvements and additional features compared to the stock Android OS. LineageOS is developed and maintained by a community of volunteers and is known for its stability, security, and regular updates. The Android TV version of LineageOS is specifically designed for use on smart TVs and streaming devices, providing a user-friendly interface optimized for larger screens and remote control navigation.

Notes

Due to limitations in Lineage OS (Android TV), all hi-res tracks will be downsampled to 48khz, even if the app plays them in hi-res format higher than 48khz. However, given the higher quality of the DAC/Transport I2S HATs, the audio quality is still excellent and unmatched at this price range. Raspberry Pi does not have DRM support, so video streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV+ are not available on Lineage OS for Raspberry Pi. However, music streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal, and Qobuz can be used without DRM restrictions.
