DSD

DSD (Direct Stream Digital) is a high-resolution audio format that uses a 1-bit sigma-delta modulation process to encode audio data. DSD files are typically larger than other audio formats, but they can provide superior sound quality when played back on compatible hardware. DoP (DSD over PCM) is a method of encapsulating DSD audio data within a PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) stream, allowing it to be transmitted over standard digital audio interfaces. All of our models support DSD (DoP) file playback via I2S HAT and DSD Native via USB.

Notes

To get DSD native output use the USB port instead of I2S based HATS. For DSD64 the HAT can be used in DoP mode. Moode is best OS on the Raspberry Pi for playing DSD files.
